What is Boccetta? What does it mean?

Boccetta carries multiple meanings. It is a sport/game that has been reinvented by the founder to attract players with an appreciation of strategy and with the flexibility to develop and demonstrate the skills to win. Some of the tactics and strategies applied are used in other like games such as billiards and bowling.

Boccetta is also the anchor to Italian culture that brings the lifestyle elements together for a more meaningful and fulfilling experience.

1. Fun - traditional activities such as playing games, exploring many lifestyles (food, photos, history, dialects) of Italian-Americans who want to discover their ancestry and share the heritage among all with similar intentions.

2. Food - traditional and widely recognized and one of the most popular food cuisines in the world. Food brings people together.

3. Family - Family structure is important to Italians and is to be respected.  There is a hierarchy to respect. Whether it's pappà, zio, cugino or figlio, the network is important and celebrated collectively especially during holidays and special occasions. Family is important to pass down and preserve the traditions and values to our children.

4. History and festivities. Italy is immersed in ancient history. Towns and local municipalities celebrate holidays to commemorate special traditional occasions from saints to Popes to the harvest celebrations from a variety of regions.

5. Boccetta - The sport of bocce is a magnet that brings people together! Despite your age or background, it's an enjoyable game that can be played in teams, to include many people and attracting spectators. Tournaments are designed for special functions to create a fulfilling experience of fun, food and family!



How was the name arrived?

Should you were to research the word "boccetta", you will not find it associated with the popular sport of "bocce". All the dictionaries define the word as a translation to mean "small bottle" with no relationship to the game or to the balls used to play bocce.  The author has applied for the trademark word, redefined, to closer represent boccetta as the sport. 


The "etta" suffice carries the meaning of small while the root "Bocc" carries the abbreviation for Bocce, when combined, means "small" bocce. Some people would interpret the word as an equivalent to "backyard" bocce with court size of 60 feet long as opposed to conventional tournament court size of 90 feet long.



America is a great Italian name.

 Amerigo Vespucci, navigator and explorer, was one of the first to recognized that Christopher Columbus's voyages led him to a new continent despite in being credited for his discovery. Vespucci's letters describing his voyages reshaped Europeans' understanding of geography, leading America to being named after him.
